Because of my extensive clinical experience, I often work with attorneys around divorce, child
custody, and post-accident Post Traumatic Stress Disorders.
When couples can not repair their marriage, I guide them towards Collaborative Divorce
(See International Association of Collaborative Practice -
www.collaborativepractice.com).
This is a structured process that helps couples avoid going to court, where parents focus on what is most important for them,
their family, and everyone’s future.
As part of the Collaborative Process, I work with the couple and the attorneys together,
often with a financial expert, to end this part of their lives with minimum damage to themselves and their children.
The problem-solving approach encourages mutual respect and open communication.
I have also served as an expert witness in cases of child custody (when Collaborative Divorce fails), child sexual abuse, sexual harassment, and post-traumatic stress disorders.
In addition, I lecture to Women's Bar Associations and Family Law Divisions on topics such as
- Understanding why clients turn on their attorney
- Establishing a "structured separation" as a means of rekindling a marriage
- Keeping the custody battle away from the children
- The conflicting skills required for being both an attorney and a spouse
